As a member of AgForce you have the power to direct policy setting through attending branch meetings, raising resolutions, contacting your local representative or becoming an elected representative – all options that the AgForce Sheep & Wool Board strongly encourage you to consider.

The AgForce Sheep & Wool Board, as the peak sheep and wool industry body in Queensland, pays subscriptions to WoolProducers Australia (WPA) and Sheepmeat Council of Australia (SCA), as does every other sheep-producing state in Australia.

Through direction from state farm organisations including AgForce, it is WPA's responsibility to set policy for the national wool industry, and likewise for SCA to set policy for the sheepmeat industry. Like AgForce, these national peak councils work with or lobbies against regulators to ensure the best outcomes and longevity of the sheep and wool industry in Australia.

It is the charter of AgForce, SCA and WPA to lobby the State and Commonwealth Governments on behalf of the sheep and wool industry. These bodies do not receive any direct industry levy funds.

Australian Wool Innovation and Meat and Livestock Australia are both Research and Development Corporations for the wool and sheepmeat industries – who both received levies from growers.

• Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) is the wool industry's research, development and marketing body. AWI was established under the Wool Privatisation Act (2000) and is also responsible for collecting the wool levy under Wool Services Privatisation (Wool Levy Poll) Regulations 2003.
• Meat and Livestock Australia  (MLA) is the research and developing body for the Australian red meat industry and collects levies under the Australian Meat and Livestock Act (1997).

The Statutory Funding Agreements signed individually between The Commonwealth of Australia and AWI and MLA clearly sets the charter for these bodies and their individual directors, which is to oversee the expenditure of levies collected on behalf of industry and as directed by industry. It also clearly states that directors are not to enter into any debate or discussion of an agripolitical nature.
