Safeguard your property against trespassers

In view of recent animal activist operations, such as the Aussie Farms website, AgForce has sought advice from the Queensland Police Service to help you safeguard yourself against trespassers.

Trespass is when someone enters your private property without your permission and then refuses your requests to leave.

Police recommend calling them immediately if you find trespassers on your property, either on 000 if you or your family feel in danger, or via Policelink 131 444.

You should provide trespassers with written direction to leave your property using a template similar to the below. An official, written direction will assist police when removing trespassers.

"I am …………….…(name and position in company) of the …………………(company), the person or agent of the person in peaceful possession of ……………………(property/land/place etc.). To all those on/within ………… (name of property/street/road/place), I revoke all lawful rights to be here, and I now require you to immediately move yourselves and all of your personal property off ……………… (property/name/road/place)."

Queensland Police Officers can assist in the removal of trespassers from any land, structure, vessel or place.

It is helpful to record your request and the actions of the trespassers on your phone camera, and in fact you may wish to consider installing trail cameras.

All members are also encouraged to review their current security arrangements.
