Southern Inland Queensland Regional Councillor

We currently have a vacancy on our Southern Inland Regional (SIQ) AgForce Council, which we are seeking to fill for the period until October 2020, when AgForce will run its usual bi-annual elections.

AgForce exists to represent members, and the council plays a critical role in ensuring the issues important to us in SIQ are prioritised and driven hard on our behalf.

By sitting as a councillor you will be helping drive that support, while on a personal level, the experience you gain as a councillor provides a wonderful learning and development opportunity.

Being a councillor requires you to be available to take calls from members, attend AgForce events in your area, and attend council meetings monthly.

During 2020, up to four of those meetings will be face-to-face for potentially half a day, while the other meetings will take place by phone for up to two hours.

It is expected that as a minimum, Regional Councillors:

  1. Attend regional council meetings
  2. Keep informed on all their commodity issues
  3. Attend AgForce events in the area
  4. Form part of the organising committee for AgForce events in the region
  5. Attend monthly council meetings via teleconference
  6. Promote membership of AgForce
  7. Comply with the AgForce policies and procedures as set from time to time, including the following board policies contained within the regional handbook, specifically:
    • Code of conduct policy
    • Communication protocols policy

Whilst not Directors attracting the full application of legal duties through provisions of the Corporations Law, it is viewed that all Councillors are elected by the AgForce membership into a position of trust overseeing the activities within the Region and the Regional Council.

Expressions of interest can be made by email to Melissa Kimlin.
