The AgForce board sets the policy direction for the organisation and identifies its agenda of priority policy areas every two years. These priorities strategically target the issues thought to be most important to Queensland broadacre agriculture.

The priority policy areas are resourced with dedicated policy development committees made up of skilled and passionate members with experience in the relevant policy area. The Chair and members are selected through an open nomination process from within the membership. Being a committee member is an exciting opportunity to help steer the future direction of the broadacre agriculture industries in Queensland.

These committees consider current and emerging issues and member resolutions and provide advice on policy matters to the Board, which has ultimate responsibility for policy positioning and are accountable to the membership.

The current priority policy areas and committees for 2019 and 2020 are:

• Connectivity and Social Policy Committee

Securing our property rights

• Land Use Protection Committee
• Landscape Management Committee
• Water Committee

Profitably managing our resources/best practice  

• Climate and Agribusiness Committee
• Biosecurity Committee
• Reef Taskforce

Supporting our people

• Safety and Workforce Committee

There is a range of other important issues that affect the broadacre industry and these are dealt with and resourced as required in response to developments and as opportunities present. For example, AgForce also has a standing reference group that addresses Great Barrier Reef related issues.
